KNOW YOUR AGENT: A Conversation with Mwangi Maina
Behind every successful property deal is a trusted guide. Today, we speak to Mwangi Maina, a real estate agent and founder of Property Corner Kenya who has been helping clients find peace of mind and prosperity since 2020.
Q: Mwangi, how did you get into real estate?
A: Funny enough, my journey started in disappointment. I was defrauded during a personal land purchase. That experience lit a fire in me — I didn’t want anyone else to go through the same. So I decided to step into the space, armed with integrity, research, and a desire to bridge the trust gap in this industry.
Q: What was your background before real estate?
A: I was a professional photographer. I’ve always loved art, storytelling, and capturing the world in unique frames. I'm also a big tech enthusiast — so transitioning into real estate felt natural because I could apply creativity, technology, and communication in a meaningful way.
Q: What do you value most in your work?
A: Trust and clarity. I want my clients to feel that they're not just making a purchase — they’re securing a future. My goal every day is to give people access to the best information and properties that bring wealth and peace of mind.
Q: What sets your approach apart?
A: I collaborate closely with stakeholders across the real estate ecosystem — from surveyors and valuers to legal advisors and developers. I believe no agent works alone. I bring together the right people to make sure each client gets a smooth, transparent experience.
Q: How has fatherhood influenced you professionally?
A: Tremendously. It’s taught me patience and the value of guiding people who may be uncertain. Many property buyers are first-timers. I try to nurture that trust and provide them with the same attention and care I give my own family.
Q: And when you're not working?
A: You’ll probably find me taking a walk during sunset, deep into a book, or battling it out on a chessboard. It’s how I reset and stay sharp.
Q: Any final thoughts for future clients?
A: Ask questions. Be curious. Don’t rush. And work with someone who is as invested in your future as you are. That’s what I strive to be — your partner in building something lasting.
